Former Bossier Parish prep stars Jalan West of Northwestern State and Lulu Perry of Louisiana Tech have been honored by their respective conferences.
West, who led Bossier High to the Class 4A state championship in 2011, was named the Southland Conference Freshman of the Year.
Perry, who was Louisiana’s Miss Basketball at Benton last season, was named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Freshman team.
West, a 5-11 redshirt freshman, ranks 10th in the NCAA with a plus 2.9 assist-turnover ratio.
He is 44th nationally with a 5.4 assists average and leads the Southland in assist-turnover ratio, steals and free throw aim (83.6 percent), including a streak of 21 straight late in the season.
His 10.4 scoring average is boosted by making 1.7 3-pointers per game, which ranks fifth in the Southland. He had 12 assists, most by a Southland player this season, and no turnovers Saturday while posting his first career double-double, adding 11 points.
Perry averaged 10.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.9 steals per game in 18 WAC games. She shot 35 percent from the field, 74 percent from the free throw line and 16-of-61 from the 3-point line.
She scored in double figures 11 times in WAC action, including a career-high 21 points in wins over San Jose State and UT Arlington.
