The Benton Tigers and Bossier Bearkats posted non-district victories Tuesday afternoon.
Benton scored five runs in the first inning and went on to defeat Haughton 10-5 at Benton. Bossier slipped past Stanley 5-4 at home.
Elsewhere, Parkway dropped an 8-6 decision to Minden at Parkway.
At Benton, Jordan Shaffer doubled twice, and Aaron Sheppard went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Tigers (9-5). Jaret Gill also had a double.
Aaron Henigan went 4 1-3 innings to get the win. Sheppard and Shaffer pitched the final 2 2-3 innings.
Haughton’s John Tomb went 2-for-3 with a double. Josh Walker also had two hits. Logan McHan and Seth Bradshaw had one double each for the Bucs (4-10).
At Parkway, Clay Carroll went 2-for-3 with a double, and Holden Orgeron had two hits and two RBIs. Parkway dropped to 4-9.
At Rusheon, Zach McKnight went 3-for-3 with a double as Bossier improved to 10-3.
Starting pitcher Rodney Bonds allowed three hits and struck out seven in five innings. Jake Gray pitched the final two innings and got the win.
