Softball: Airline picks up three victories in own tournament

The Airline Lady Vikings won three games in the Northern Exposure Tournament, which Airline hosted Friday and Saturday.
The Lady Vikings defeated Ouachita Christian 8-4 and Benton 6-2 Saturday. They defeated Rayne 9-1 Friday.
Katie Smith went 3-for-3 with two RBIs against Ouachita Christian.
Ashley Salinas had two hits, including a double Sarah Martin went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Miranda Young had a double. Lindsay Fronzaglio drove in two runs. Kayla Ann Ranit got the win.
Mary Macaulay went 2-for-3 with a double against Benton. Winning pitcher Jamie Roberts struck out five.
Madison Rowland had a double and three RBIs against Rayne. Smith had a two-RBI single. Roberts got the win.
Benton went 1-2 in the tournament. The Lady Tigers also defeated Caddo Magnet 8-1 and lost to Rayne 17-9.
Gabby Kespelher. Chelsea Rangel and Savannah Collo had two hits apiece against Airline. The Lady Tigers hurt themselves with six errors.
Rangel went 4-for-4 with two doubles against Rayne. Yancey Cox and Taylor Thompson each had one double.
Benton pounded out nine hits in the victory over Magnet.
Rangel had two hits, including a double. Samantha Maranto had two hits. Rangel and Kespelher combined on a three-hitter.
Parkway lost three games in the Alexandria Senior High tournament Friday and Saturday.
The Lady Panthers fell to Buckeye 7-5, ASH 8-4 and Natchitoches Central 9-0.
Haydn Parker went 2-for-3 with two RBIs against Buckeye. Cheyenne Rogers had two hits. Brittany Bryant doubled.
Danielle Cruickshank had two of the Lady Panthers’ four hits against Natchitoches Central
Cruickshank had two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs against ASH.  
Carol Cash doubled twice. Rogers hit a two-run homer.
District 1-5A play resumes Tuesday.
Parkway visits Caddo Magnet, Haughton is at Captain Shreve and Airline visits Byrd.
Bossier’s Juliet Zapata had two hits, including a triple, in the Lady Bearkats’ 14-13 loss to Ringgold last week. Angie Nguyen went 2-for-3.
Nguyen also had two hits in a loss to North Caddo. Destiny Morris had two RBIs, and Corey Johnson went 2-for-3.
