Benton pounded out 24 hits in a wild 18-14 victory over the Haughton Bucs in the Bossier Federal Invitational Saturday at Haughton.
Benton built a 14-5 lead through 5.5 innings, but Haughton scored seven in the bottm of the sixth to cut the lead to two. The Tigers responded with four more in the top of the seventh.
Benton’s Andrew Cole went 5-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs.
Four other Tigers — Jordan Shaffer, Aaron Baker, Connor Horton and Jaret Gill — had three hits apiece.
Shaffer, Baker and Gill had two doubles. T.J. Anderson and Horton had one each. Baker had four RBIs and Aaron Henigan had three.
Haughton had 13 hits. Matthew Anthony went 3-for-5 with a double. Seth Ryan went 3-for-4.
Logan McHan had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs. Levi Sharp went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Zach Lemley had a double and two RBIs. John Tomb had two RBIs.
Saturday was a tough day for Haughton. The Bucs also lost to Minden 14-5. McHan went 2-for-4.
Elsewhere Saturday, Parkway lost to Ouachita Christian 9-3 in the Bossier Federal and Bossier fell to North Webster 11-0 in the North Webster tournament.
Austin Averitt had a triple and Clay Carroll a double for Parkway, which was outhit 15-5.
Bossier pitchers Alex Galvan and Rodney Bonds allowed only five hits, but the Bearkats hurt themselves with four errors. Bossier had three hits, including a double by Bonds.
Airline dropped two games in the East Ascension tournament. The Vikings lost to St. Amant 6-1 and Holy Cross 7-2.
Chase Rivers went 3-for-4 against St. Amant, and Jacob James had a home run. Rivers and Chad Rambin had two hits each against Holy Cross. One of Rambin’s was a double.
Friday, Bossier routed Huntington 14-2 in a game that went five innings.
Jake Gray went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Bearkats. Bonds also had a double.
Lane Holt and Jacob Vaughn combined on a 1-hitter. Holt had six strikeouts and Vaughn five.
Benton suffered its first loss of the season 5-3 at Captain Shreve.
The Tigers led 3-0 through four but the Gators scored four runs in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Woodward went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Benton. Shaffer had two hits.
Shaffer started on the mound and allowed three hits in 4 1-3 innings. He struck out seven.
Haughton fell to Neville 6-4. Josh Walker got the Bucs’ only two hits of the game, both singles.
Parkway picked up its first victory over the season 7-2 over Minden. Tyler Churchwell led the Panthers at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double.
Demetrius McAtee had a double and walked twice. Hunter Webb walked three times.
Rob Harper scattered seven hits and struck out seven in 6 1-3 innings.
Airline won its first game of the season, 3-1 over East Ascension.
Winning pitcher Landon Lewis struck out 13. Alex Weinsheimer went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Will Goodwin had two hits, including a double. Colton Kyle went 2-for-4.
Rambin had a double and two RBIs. Rivers had a double.
