BPCC SOFTBALL TEAM OFF TO SOLID START

The Bossier Parish Community College softball team is off to a solid start after winning three of four games recently at an event in Raymond, Miss.

The Lady Cavs split a doubleheader with Hinds College, winning 6-5 and losing 10-5. They also swept Holmes College 13-5 and 6-4.

BPCC pitcher Chelsea Ivy went 6-for-8 with a home run in the two games against Hinds. J.J. Mitchell went 3-for-4 with a double and triple in the victory. Kennedy Beard went 3-for-4 with a home run. Brooke Puckett went 4-for-4 with a home run and double in the loss.

Ashley Hoecker went 3-for-4 with a home run in the 13-5 victory over Holmes. Ivy went 4-for-4 and Mitchell went 3-for-4. Lacy Blanchard hit a home run and had two doubles in the 6-4 victory. Mitchell and Tiffani Pledger had three hits each.

BPCC (9-8) is scheduled to play four games against Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas, Saturday and Sunday.

BPCC HOOPS TEAM FALLS TO KILGORE

The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers fell to Kilgore College 64-49 in a Region 14 men’s basketball game at BPCC.

Kilgore, the second-place team in the region, improved to 23-4 overall and 13-4 in conference play. BPCC fell to 9-16 and 2-14.

BPCC hits the road Saturday for a league game against Tyler at 4 p.m.

HIGH SCHOOL  BOWLING RESULTS

The Airline boys and girls swept Parkway in high school bowling action Thursday at Holiday Lanes.The boys won 23-4 and the girls won 20-7.

In another boys games, Bossier downed Haughton 22-5. In another girls games, Haughton edged Byrd 15-12. In JV action, Haughton defeated Parkway 22-0 and Benton defeated Loyola 19-5-7.5.

STATE INDOOR  MEET SATURDAY AT LSU

The LHSAA State Indoor Track and Field Championships is Saturday at LSU.

Among the parish athletes with chances to do well are Parkway’s Alison Ringle (1,600), Haughton’s Micah Larkins (55-meter dash), Airline’s Jack Wilkes (800), Airline’s Cameron Rice (high jump) and Airline’s Jasmyn Carswell (triple jump).
