James, 63, was a member of Cypress Baptist Church, A.O.P.A., and a card carrying member of the NRA. He enjoyed tinkering with projects in the workshop, landscaping, boat and aircraft building, flying, sailing and caring for his family and friends of the community.. James joined the US NAVY in New York City at the age of 17, then was stationed in Pensacola, Fl for flight school, before being transferred to Japan for active duty flying rescue helicopters. After serving 16 years, he transitioned to reserved military status -only to be recalled to active duty to serve a tour in the Gulf War. After serving his country faithfully, James settled in Louisiana and pursued a career in the oil and gas industry. Over the years he developed numerous widgets for various applications in the industry and served as a benchmark for expertise and customer service.
To describe what kind of man James was in a few words; Noble, Dignified, Honest, Proud, Loving, served as a mentor to all… and also was a wonderful dad and proud new grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father Peter Romano, mother Gloria Romano and sister Arlene Laface.
James is survived by spouse Rebecca Shapiro, sons James Romano, Jr. and wife Lindsey, Christopher Romano and wife Chloe, daughter Lauren Brunker and granddaughter Nicole Sophia Romano.
The family would like to thank Bro. Billy Pierce, Chuck Duncan, Jack Skaggs, the Military Guard and each and every soul that has gathered in celebration of Jim's life.
