SOFTBALL, BASEBALL JAMBOREES ON TAP
The Bossier Parish JV Softball Jamboree will be held Thursday at the Bossier softball field at Rusheon Middle School.
The event, sponsored by Bossier Federal Credit Union and Specialist Hospital of Shreveport, begins at 3 p.m.
Here is the schedule: Airline vs. Bossier, 3; Airline vs. Haughton, 4; Parkway vs. Haughton, 5; Parkway vs. Benton, 6. Louisiana New Tech vs. Benton, 7; Louisiana New Tech vs. Bossier, 8.
The varsity jamboree is Saturday at the same site. Airline plays Benton at 10:15 a.m. followed by Parkway vs. Benton at 11:30, Haughton vs. Airline at 12:45 p.m., Parkway vs. Bossier at 2 and Haughton vs. Bossier at 3:15.
The varsity baseball jamboree is Saturday at Haughton. Haughton faces Bossier at 10 a.m. followed by Bossier vs. Airline at 11:30, Airline vs. Benton at 1 p.m., Benton vs. Parkway at 2:30 and Parkway vs. Haughton at 4.
BPCC HOOPS TEAM AT HOME TONIGHT
The Bossier Parish Community Cavaliers host Paris Junior College in a men’s basketball game tonight at 7.
The Cavs (9-12, 2-11 Region 14) haven’t played since a 71-63 victory over Panola last Wednesday. Former Bossier star Lyndale James had a career-high 29 in that game.
The Cavs lost to Paris 90-88 in overtime earlier this season.
PARISH ATHLETES FARE WELL IN LSU LAST CHANCE MEET
Parkway’s Alison Ringle and Airline’s Jasmyn Carswell won events at the LSU High School Last Chance Qualifier indoor track and field meet last Saturday in Baton Rouge.
Ringle won the 1,600-meter run in 5 minutes, 20.9 seconds. Carswell won the triple jump with a leap of 35 feet, 11 inches.
Airline’s Jack Wilkes finished second in the 800-meter run in 1:58.73, just .12 seconds behind Zachary Albright of St. Paul’s.
Airline’s Cameron Rice finished fourth in the high jump with a leap of 6-1. Parkway’s Taylor Bazo was sixth in the boys 1,600 in 4:41.06. Parkway’s Skylor Reese was 13th in the 3,200 in 10:47.47.
The final meet of the indoor season is the state meet Feb. 23 at LSU.
BPAR SPRING YOUTH SOCCER REGISTRATION UNDERWAY
Registration is underway for the 2013 Bossier Parks and Recreation Youth Spring Soccer season for boys and girls ages 4 to 14. The season is scheduled to begin April 2. The deadline to register is Feb. 22.
The registration fee is $45 per child and $35 for each sibling. Registration forms are available at the BPAR office, located in the Bossier City Public Service Complex, 3223 Old Shed Road. Forms may also be downloaded from the City of Bossier City web site — bossiercity.org. Click on “Parks and Recreation” from the City Department listing and then click on “Youth Programs.”

BOSSIER DIXIE REGISTRATION RUNS THROUGH FEB. 23
Registration for Bossier Dixie baseball and softball runs through Feb. 23.
You can register online at bossierdixie.net or on Saturday and Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Walbrook Park.
Tryouts are set for Sunday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. at Walbrook.
