Cope, Rusheon, Greenacres sweep opponents

The Cope Cougars, Rusheon Rams and Greenacres Mustangs swept their opponents in middle school boys district basketball action Thursday.
Cope downed Haughton 42-31 in the seventh-grade game and 47-27 in the eight-grade game.
Rusheon defeated Benton 37-31 in the seventh-grade game and 43-27 in the eighth-grade game.
Greenacres topped Elm Grove 26-15 in the seventh-grade game and 56-29 in the eighth-grade game.
Rusheon remained on top of the seventh-grade standings at 7-0 with three games left. Cope is second at 6-1. The two teams meet Monday at Cope.
Greenacres and Rusheon are tied atop the eighth-grade standings at 6-1. Cope is one game back at 5-2.
At Cope, Jack Hunter Johnson scored 11 points and Jontravious Jenkins had 10 points and six rebounds to lead the Cougars seventh-graders. Trenton Ivy added eight points.
Mario Cook led Haughton with 13 points, and Malcolm Hall had nine.
Ty Wimberly paced the Cope eighth-graders with 14 points.  KJ Bilbo had 11 points and eight rebounds. Bryson Vance had six rebounds.
Charles Harper topped Haughton with eight points.
At Rusheon, Keldrick Carper scored 13 points and Randy Combs had 10 to lead the Rams eighth-graders.
Keimun Daniels and Mike Taylor combined for 14.
At Greenacres, Kendall Brown led the Mustangs seventh-graders with 12 points. Brown, Mason Schoth and Brian Engelke hit 3-point shots.
Knije Harrison topped Elm Grove with 14 points.
Anthony Mulrenin, Chris Davenport and Derek Jamison scored eight points apiece to lead the Greenacres eighth-grade team. Noah Hildebrand and Harvey Calhoun had seven each.
Elm Grove’s Malcolm Banks and Mason Whatley combined for 14.
