LHSAA approves select-nonselect spllit for football playoffs

Beginning this season, LHSAA schools will be split into select and nonselect divisions in the football playoffs.

The LHSAA approved the proposal Friday at its annual convention in Baton Rouge.

Select schools are those that have a selective admission process. They include private, magnet, charter and dual-curriculum schools.

Nonselect schools are those with a distinct attendance zone. All six Bossier Parish high schools are nonselect schools.

The select schools will be divided into two divisions for the playoffs. The nonselect schools will continue to be placed in the traditional classes from 5A to 1A based on attendance.

Regular-season competition will not be affected. Select and nonselect schools will continue to compete against each other for district championship honors,
