Walk MS Shreveport-Bossier City set for April 6

E-mail Print PDF

Walk MS is a nationwide event hosted by the National MS Society and its local chapters, with the Shreveport-Bossier event expecting 400 walkers and $40,000 raised.

The event will be held at the Louisiana Boardwalk with registration at 7 a.m. and the event at 8 a.m.

Each Walk MS event is an opportunity for people to come together, create awareness of MS, celebrate hope for a cure and support those who are challenged by the disease. In Louisiana, Walk MS events take place in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport-Bossier.

In 2012, nearly 2,000 Walk MS Louisiana participants raised approximately $222,000.

Walk MS is a great event that encourages people to Walk and raise money to create a world free of MS. Walkers register and begin fundraising as they receive a welcome packet from the office. Walkers are treated at rest stops with refreshments. As they cross the finish line, they are greeted and thanked by people with MS. Festivities continue with food and entertainment.

Since its founding in 1946, the National MS Society has been the leader in the fight against MS. The National MS Society supports more MS research, offers more services for people with MS, provides more professional educational programs, and furthers more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world.

The Louisiana office is one of a 50-state network of chapters and branches that represent the Society. The office is headquartered in Metairie and we serve the entire state. We provide local programs and services to more than 4,000 Louisianans affected by MS.
