The Bossier Bearkats and Benton Tigers headed east down I-20 Tuesday night and came back with victories.

Bossier defeated Ouachita 63-62 in Monroe, and Benton downed West Ouachita 69-55 in West Monroe.

Elsewhere Tuesday, Airline dropped a 75-61 decision to Huntington at Airline, and Louisiana New Tech at Plain Dealing fell to Booker T. Washington 51-49.

On Monday, Benton fell to Green Oaks 65-39 at home, and Airline lost to Minden 69-61 at Minden.

Bossier (9-2) avenged one its two losses with the victory over Ouachita (11-4), considered one of the teams to beat in Class 5A.

The Bearkats lost to the Lions 60-45 on Nov. 21.

Bossier led 37-34 at the half and maintained that lead for much of the second.

But the Bearkats found themselves down by one with time running out.

With about six secons left, Devonte Hall drove the right baseline, made a spin move and hit a layup with two players on him to give Bossier the lead.

Tevin Robertson then intercepted a pass downcourt to seal the victory.

Hall scored 19 points and Rashard Owens 18 to lead Bossier, which won its sixth straight.

Robertson added 10 points, and Deorvion Robinson had six.

Airline (2-8) played a very good first quarter against Huntington (8-1) and led 21-13.

But the Raiders’ height advantage and defensive pressure began to take its toll.

The Raiders went on a 10-2 run to start the second quarter and tied the game at 23. A 3-pointer put them up by three, but Airline came back and Andrew Latson hit a 3 to give the Vikings a 36-35 halftime lead.

Airline started the second half strong and led 41-35 early. But Huntington went on a 15-1 run to take control of the game.

Brandon Sheppard, a 6-foot-7 post player, was fouled on a dunk at the third-quarter buzzer.

He made the free throw and the Raiders led 56-46 going into the fourth. Airline got no closer than eight the rest of the way.

Sheppard led the Raiders with 17 points with eight of those coming on dunks.

Latson led Airline with 23 points, including 17 in the first half. He made five 3-pointers. Demetrius Early added 16 points, and Trey Turner had nine.

Turner led Airline against Minden with 22 points, and Early had 20.

Benton (6-8) had four players score in double figures in its win over West Ouachita.

Kordavion Stewart and Jordan Shaffer led the way with 15 and 14, respectively. LeeAaron Alexander had 11 points, D.J. Bratten 10 and Robert Davis eight.

New Tech (3-6) got 13 points from Deaumante Johnson and 11 from Cardarrious Ray in the loss at BTW.

New Tech was up by one in the final 30 seconds, but BTW converted a three-point play with about 18 seconds to take the lead.

The Lions couldn’t get a potential game-winning shot off after that.

Parkway has home games tonight and Thursday against Northwood and Evangel, respectively.

Bossier is playing in the Diamonds in the Rock tournament in Little Rock, Ark., Friday through Sunday.
