Five Benton players were first-team selections on the All-District 1-4A football team.
Two Tigers — senior running back Zach Pierson and senior punter Colby Crow — made the first team for the second year in a row.
Benton’s other first-team selections were senior offensive tackle Jacob Seegers, senior kick return specialist Keith English and junior defensive back Austin Simmons.
Pierson rushed for 1,189 yards on 190 carries, an average of 6.3 yards per carry, and scored 11 touchdowns. It was his second straight season to rush for more than 1,000 yards.
Crow averaged 41.5 yards on 49 punts. Seventeen of his punts were downed inside the 20, including six inside the 10.
Seegers blocked for a Benton offense that averaged 229 yards rushing per game.
Simmons had 62 tackles and intercepted three passes.
English averaged 21.5 yards on 21 returns and returned two kicks for touchdowns. He also made honorable mention at running back.
Senior defensive back Darius Green and senior tight end Matt Boggs made the second team.
Green had 36 tackles and two interceptions.
Senior tackle Robert Chenevert made honorable mention.
Huntington running back Damian Jiggetts and Northwood quarterback Jerrick Peterson were named co-Offensive MVPs.
Woodlawn defensive back Donovan Wilson was named the Defensive MVP.
Northwood’s Jim Gatlin, a former Parkway head coach, and Woodlawn’s Robert Arvie shared Coach of the Year honors.
Northwood and Woodlawn were district co-champs.
The All-District 1-4A team was selected by the district’s coaches.
