Three Bossier players scored in double figures as the Lady Kats held off the Airline Lady Vikings 45-37 Tuesday night at Bossier.
Elsewhere, Benton dropped Lakeside 48-38 at Lakeside, Louisiana New Tech at Plain Dealing defeated Parkway 50-41 at Plain Dealing and Haugton edged West Ouachita 36-35 in West Monroe.
At Bossier, the Lady Kats closed the first half with a 13-2 run to take a 30-17 lead. Airline came out strong in the second half and got within one a couple of times before Bossier pulled away.
Bree Williams led the Lady Kats (4-4) with 13 points and Tiffany Lynn had 11. Deniera McGlothan scored 10 points and also had 12 rebounds, six blocks and five steals.
Dickey, who is in his first year as head coach after serving as an assistant at the school, said he couldn’t remember the last time Bossier bear Airline in girls basketball.
He said the players were motivated to win it for senior Shuntara Woods, who was unable to play because of an injury.
“Unless we play them in the Doc Edwards (tournament), this is the only time we’ll play them this year,” Dickey said.
Kei McCoy led Airline (4-5) with 12 points, and Jasmyn Carswell chipped in with 10.
At Lakeside, Megan Fream scored 14 points and Gabbey Jackson had 10 as the Benton improved to 5-2. Destiney Wallace scored nine.
At Plain Dealing, senior guard Dennisha Chambers , a returning All-Parish player, scored 35 points to lead the Lady Lions, who jumped out to a 19-3 first-quarter lead.
Dranautika Thomas added seven.
Tyiesha Kidd topped Parkway with 13 points and Autumn Collins had 12. Parkway senior Halle Washington, a 6-foot-3 Georgia signee, is still out with a knee injury. Coach Aaron Megee said it will be “a while” before she returns.
At West Monroe, Brittany Robinett tossed in 11 points to lead Haughton (4-1) past West Ouachita.
Mikayla Barber and Amber Brooks combined for 14.
Haughton is playing in the Doyline tournament this week. The tournament has been moved to Lakeside because of the on-going situation involving the removal of explosive powder at Camp Minden.
