The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers defeated Blinn College 66-63 Wednesday night at BPCC, their first conference victory since the 2010-11 season.
The Cavaliers improved to 6-1 overall and evened their Region XIV conference record at 1-1. Blinn, located in Bryan, Texas, dropped to 5-5 and 1-1.
“This was a big win for us,” BPCC coach Joe St. Andre said.
The Cavs rallied from a 9-point deficit early in the second half.
Trayvion Johnson converted a three-point play with about 25 seconds left to give the Cavs the 66-63 lead.
After calling a couple of time outs, Blinn was unable to get a shot off.
The Cavaliers had four players score in double figures.
Jalen Johnson led the way with 14 points. Johnson was 3-of-5 from 3-point range. Justin Harris and Dimitri Smith scored 11 points each, and Ty’Rell Winn had 10.
Former Bossier standout Lyndale James led BPCC with six rebounds. Smith and Winn had five apiece.
Winn also dished out five assists to lead the team in that category.
BPCC resumes Region XIV play Saturday against Coastal Bend (6-1, 2-0) at 2 p.m. in Beeville, Texas.
BPCC went 0-19 in league play last season, although the Cavs came close to winning a couple of games near the end of the season.
