The Bossier Parish middle school football season ended several weeks ago, but some parish players haven’t hung up their cleats yet.

Several will be playing for the Northwest Louisiana eighth-grade all-star team in the  Football University National Championship Tournament.

Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade all-star teams from Arkansas and Louisiana and will play first-round games Saturday and Sunday at Evangel’s Rodney Duron Stadium.

According to a press release, the winners will advance to a regional round in Kansas for a chance to “showcase their talent in January at San Antonio’s Alamodome during the same week as the Army All American Bowl and the Eastbay Youth All American Bowl.  These are the nation’s biggest all-star football games.”

Benton’s Connor Curry, a quarterback from Evangel who has been named the top eighth-grade player in the country by Elite 101 youth sports website, is a member of the eighth-grade team.

Other parish players on the eighth-grade team include Elm Grove’s Caleb Laboy and Nick So’oto, Cope’s Cameron Davis and Dustyn Arceneaux, Benton’s Colton Sessions, Robin Moore and Noah Snyder and  Greenacres’ Savion Vaught

Dylan Moses, a Baton Rouge resident who was reportedly offered a scholarship to LSU at the school’s July camp, is also on the eighth-grade team.

The Northwest Louisiana eighth-grade team plays Southeast Louisiana at 2 p.m. Saturday followed by a game between the seventh-grade teams at 4.

The seventh-grade championship and consolation games will be played at noon and 2 p.m. Sunday.
