The Benton Tigers, Haughton Bucs and Airline Vikings all opened the 2012-13 high school soccer season with victories Monday night.
Benton blanked Southwood 6-0 at Cargill Park. At Tinsley, Haughton defeated Minden 6-1 and Airline shut out Neville 6-0.
Elsewhere, Parkway and North DeSoto played to a 0-0 tie in Stonewall.
Ethan Whitehead had a hat trick for Benton. Joseph Perret, Dillon Rogers and William Sanguinetti scored one goal each.
Ethan Parks had two assists, while Cade Stephens, Ryan Mutchler and Matthew Valcho had one apiece.
Goalkeeper Mitchell Matthews had four saves and got the shutout.
Haughton won in Kyle Wilkerson’s debut as head coach.
Benny Broadway led the Bucs with three goals. Broadway kicked two field goals in Haughton’s playoff loss to Ouachita last Friday.
Cesar Ontiveros added two goals, and Alonso Sifuentes had one.
Julio Rodriguez had three assists. Wilkerson said goalkeeper John Tomb had a good game.
Patrick Laurent scored two goals in Airline’s victory over Neville.
Will Coyer, Chris Galvin, Esteban Guevara and Art Villerreal scored one apiece.
Abdullah Rayyan, Scott Bowers, Bryan Medrano and Scott Bowers had assists.
The Haughton girls team lost a couple of one-goal games Monday and Tuesday.
The Lady Bucs fell to Minden and Bossier, both by scores of 2-1. Hannah Logan scored the goal against Minden and Libbi Lange scored the one against Bossier.
In a boys’ game tonight, Parkway plays Neville at 6 at Tinsley
The Airline and Haughton boys and girls teams open District 1-5A play Thursday. Airline plays Southwood and Haughton faces Caddo Magnet.
The Airline boys play at 6 p.m. at Cargill and the girls play at 6 at Tinsley. Both Haughton games are at Cargill. The Benton boys visit Loyola at 6. The Benton and Parkway girls face off at Tinsley at 6.
