PLAIN DEALING - Funeral services for Mr. Allen Lamar Matlock, age 77, will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 4, 2012, in the Plain Dealing Baptist Church, Plain Dealing, LA, with Bro. Chad Hardbarger officiating and Bro. James Hill assisting. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery, Plain Dealing, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Matlock was born on December 28, 1934 to Alton "Zeke" and Nannie "Jack" Windsor Matlock in Plain Dealing, LA and passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012 in Shreveport, LA. He was a member of Plain Dealing Baptist Church and loved the oil industry, retiring from Universal Oil Products after 35 years of service. Mr. Matlock enjoyed gardening, garage and estate sales, traveling, tractors, politics and working with his hands. He was a loving, husband, father and Papaw.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Ann Chandler Matlock; children, Barry Matlock and Kim Ingram, who was very special to Mr. Matlock, Victor Matlock and wife, Carol, Liz Matlock, all of Plain Dealing, LA; five grandchildren, Kelsey Matlock of Shreveport, LA, Courtney Matlock and Wayne Dick of Plain Dealing, LA, Victor Matlock, Jr. of Shreveport, LA, Dillon Pourteau of Oklahoma City, OK, Triston Matlock of Plain Dealing, LA; great-granddaughter, Kinlee Jo Dick of Plain Dealing, LA; brother, Roger Matlock and wife, Audrey Lee of Atlanta, TX; nephew, Wayne Matlock of Lafayette, LA; niece, Lisa Kruger of Bossier City, LA; and brother-in-law, Alvin Johnston of Plain Dealing, LA.
Mr. Matlock was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Judy Chandler Johnston; father-in-law, Cecil Chandler and mother-in-law, Jessie Malone Chandler.
Serving as pallbearers will be Triston Matlock, Victor Matlock, Jr., Homer Matlock, Landon Bussey, Alvin Johnston and Wayne Dick.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be John Ridge, James McEachen, Charles Hicks, Eddie Chandler, Jerry Chandler, Bill Hearn, Joe Arnold, Wayne Davis, Jim Heifner, Kenneth Matlock, Linton Matlock, Jim Frazier, Bobby Jenkins, James Southerland, Mike Hilburn, and Dillon Pourteau.
