In a traditional high school mini lessons are taught, but in New Tech high schools you work on major projects, covering numerous objectives, for approximately two to three weeks and your grade depends on it. The difference with presenting in a traditional high school and presenting in a New Tech high school, is the fact that we can dress up for our presentation and the rigor that is involved.
On the day of presentations, we can wear business attire for the entire day or dress in a costume relative to the project. There have already been numerous presentations this school year. One class in particular was Mrs. Roca’s English II class where sophomores were assigned a project centered on Greek, Roman, and Norse Mythology.
The driving question for this project was, “Where do illusions come from and how does society use them today?” Students addressed this question by writing and presenting a 60 page illusion handbook. This project allowed for a real-life understanding of the mythology concept.
