The Airline Vikings clinched a share of the District 1-5A title with a 47-0 victory over Southwood at Lee Hedges Stadium.
Airline quarterback Hayden Hildebrand threw four touchdowns passes. Two of those went to Trey Turner, one to Logan Williams and one to Laterious Pouncy. Backup quarterback Chase Rivers also threw a touchdown pass to Chris Stinnett. Brynden Vance returned an interception for a touchdown.
Airline improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in district. It's the school's first district championship in football since 1998. The Vikings host Byrd a week from Friday. If Byrd defeats Captain Shreve tonight, the Yellow Jackets can earn a share of the title by defeating the Vikings. If Airline loses, and Parkway defeats Captain Shreve a week from Friday, there will be a three-way tie for first among Airline, Byrd and Parkway.
Parkway defeated Haughton 41-26 Thursday night at Preston Crownover Stadium in a game that was broadcast around the state by Cox Sports Television.
Parkway's Brandon Harris passed for four touchdowns and ran for one. Brodrick Jefferson had a big night for the Panthers, catching two touchdown passes and setting up another with a long catch. Hunter Huckaby and Holden Orgeron had touchdown receptions for the Panthers, and Demetrius McAtee had a rushing touchdown.
Haughton's James David Almond threw two touchdown passes. Jarred Craft had a touchdown run and reception. Jermichael Bell caught a touchdown pass. Benny Broadway kicked two field goals.
