BENTON YOUTH CROSS COUNTRY MEET SATURDAY

Benton High School is hosting the Dash to the Future Cross Country meet Saturday morning for elementary and middle school runners.

The race for elementary boys and girls runners (grades 1-5) starts at 8 a.m. That will be followed by sixth-grade and middle school division races.

The elementary race is over a half-mile course. Sixth-graders will be running a mile and middle school students a mile and a half.

Admission that includes a T-shirt is $10. Admission without the shirt is $2. The race starts on the visitors side of the Benton High School football stadium.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL JAMBOREE SATURDAY

The Bossier Parish Middle School Girls Basketball Jamboree is Saturday at Rusheon Middle School.

Rusheon plays Cope in the first seventh- and eighth-grade games starting at 9 a.m. Each “game” consists of two six-minute quarters.

Greenacres plays Cope at 10 a.m. followed by Benton vs. Greenacres at 11 a.m., Haughton vs. Benton at noon, Elm Grove vs. Haughton at 1 p.m. and Rusheon vs. Elm Grove at 2.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

PLAIN DEALING PICKS UP THREE WINS IN YOUTH LEAGUE PLAY

Plain Dealing defeated Haynesville in three of four Northwest Louisiana Youth Football League games last Saturday at Cotton Valley.

Flag — Plain Dealing 19, Haynesville 0. Christian Moore rushed for 63 yards and two TDs and pulled six flags.Tyrese Kimble had 81 yards rushing, scored a TD and a PAT and pulled eight flags. Mason Judah pulled four flags. Logan Hastings pulled three flags and had two takeaways. Plain Dealing is 3-1.

7-8 — Plain Dealing 21, Haynesville 0: CeDarious Johnson rushed for 189 yards and scored three TDs and three PATs. He also had seven tackles. Duranczyk Newton had 12 tackles, and Teddrick Lampkins Jr. had five. Plain Dealing is 2-1-1.

9-10 — Plain Dealing 21, Haynesville 6: Darrien Perry had TD receptions of 43 and 52 yards and 118 yards receiving; Kenneth W. Gay II scored on a 46-yard run and had 118 yards passing and 62 rushing. He also scored three 3 PATs and had 10 tackles. Artavious Washington had five tackles, and Ardravious Washington had four. Plain Dealing is 4-0.

11-12 — Haynesville 33, Plain Dealing 8: Treveun Dupree scored on a 17-yard run and had 53 yards rushing and 67 passing. JaKaleb McGee had 54 yards receiving and seven tackles. Terrence McCauley scored a conversion. David Lewis had four tackles. Plain Dealing is 0-4.
