
Thirty-one teams from across the state are competing in Bossier City this weekend in the Dixie 13s, 14s and AAA state baseball tournaments.
The opening ceremonies are at 6 tonight at Tinsley Park. The tournaments begin Saturday at Tinsley and Walbrook Park.
Meanwhile, four Bossier youth teams are heading south for state tournaments.
The Bossier district champion 11-12 and 13-14 teams are playing in their respective Little League state tournaments in Alexandria and Hammond.
The district champion Bossier Nationals are competing in the the Dixie 9-10 North Zone tournament in Alexandria, and the runner-up Bossier Americans are in the South Zone tournament in Ponchatoula.
The 16-team Dixie 14s tournament is divided into East and West divisions. The Central Bossier All-Stars play Vernon at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in a first-round West bracket game at Tinsley.
The East and West champions will play a three-game series Tuesday for the title and the right to play in the Dixie Boys World Series next month in Covington, Ga.
In the eight-team 13s tournament, the Bossier All-Stars open play at 1 p.m. Saturday against Glenmora at Walbrook.
The 13s tournament is scheduled to conclude Monday with the winner advancing to the Dixie Junior Boys World Series next month in Christiansburg, Va.
Last year, Bossier won the 14s state title and finished runner-up in the 13s.
Members of the Bossier 14s team are Hayden Waxley, Wade Grubbs, Parker O’Quinn, David Cole, Taylor Rivet, JW Anding, Tyler McCallister, Jarrett Bamburg, Jacob Hammons, Brandon Harper, Austin Beck, Seth Gauthier and Cole McKenzie.
Members of the Bossier 13s team are Jake Mayfield, Thomas Bush, Ryan Lawhorne, Josh James, Coleman Nerren, Anthony Mulrenin, Peyton Donaldson, Peyton Jordan, Jared Franzaglio, Jonathan Plant, Connor Jack Smith, Ethan Parks and Zachary Hire.
Meanwhile, Bossier opens play in the Little League 11-12 state tournament at 8 p.m. Saturday in Alexandria.
Bossier faces the winner of a game tonight between Jackson Parish and Bogalusa.
The winner of the tournament advances to the Southwest Regional in Waco, Texas, next month.
The regional champ qualifies for the annual Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. Last year, defending state champion Lafayette reached the World Series.The Central Bossier All-Stars begin their quest for the 13-14 state title at 7:30 tonight in Hammond.
Members of the 11-12 All-Stars are Jonathan Brandon, Cole Denler, Cole Haynes, Hunter Hollis, Chandler King, Hunter Nycum, Liam Stedman, Tysen Vorachek, Lane Weeks and Noah White.
Brandon, Hollis, Nycum and Vorachek played on the Dixie O-Zone team that won the state championship Tuesday in Princeton.
Members of the Central Bossier 13-14 team are Ryan Jeffrey, Kyler Burns, Michael Minamyer, Justin Long, Colt Shankle, Kaleb Green, Jacob Fields, Nick Ritchie, Leighton Semon, Johnny Russell and Ryan Ubeda.
The Bossier National and American All-Stars advanced to the North and South Zone tournaments by finishing 1-2 in the district tournament earlier this month in Minden.
Members of the National All-Stars are Josh Stoll, CJ McMahon, Collier Cloinger, Parker Stevens, Connor Cloinger, Xavier Murphy, Grayson Mims, Hunter Whiteside, Liam Rogers, Chris Barnard, Cullen Dowling and Briar Roberson.
Members of the American All-Stars are Jamal Johnson, Peyton Bass, Trace Vorachek, Chris Lutterman, Parker Hearne, Jackson Kennedy, Trent Duckworth, Gabriel Larry, Hugh Walker- Johnson, Brodie Romero, Jonthan Tauzin and Tyler Bourcy.
