Residents in the small Webster Parish community of Union Grove will have a new water well within the next two months thanks to action announced Monday night during a meeting at the local First Baptist Church.
John Stanley, with the Webster Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness, told some 100 members of the community that a new water well would be constructed to alleviate several years of concerns stemming from water not fit for drinking.
Stanley said the problem began some three years ago when the community lost one of its two water wells.
"Now the second well is having problems," Stanley said. "To help with the issue, the National Guard has been having to bring water in."
Stanley said Guardsmen bring upwards of 35,000 gallons of water in daily to sustain the community's needs. Views: 5839
