Louisiana New Tech at Plain Dealing’s two-year reign as Class 1A state champs came to an end Tuesday night in Abbeville.
The No. 15 seed Lady Lions dropped a 65-43 decision to No. 2 Vermilion Catholic in a second-round game.
With New Tech’s loss, the curtain comes down on the 2012-13 Bossier Parish girls basketball season.
The curtain also came down on the brilliant career of Lady Lions guard Dennisha Chambers.
Chambers missed much of the first quarter after getting kneed in an eye and VC rolled to a 26-2 lead. She returned in the second quarter and finished with 35 points.
Chambers was named the MVP in the last two state championship games. She was also named the Outstanding Player on the Class 1A All-State team last season.
Chambers was the only returning starter this season. The Lady Lions won the 1-1A title and finished 14-9 with a couple of seventh-graders playing key roles.
