No injuries in school bus crash

E-mail Print PDF

A Bossier Parish school bus was involved in a minor collision Monday afternoon.

According to Bossier Schools’ transportation director, the driver of bus 248 was transporting approximately 38 students from Haughton Middle School. When she topped a hill on Princeton Road, a truck was stopped in the middle of the road at the bottom of the hill. The bus driver applied her brakes and tried to swerve to avoid hitting him, at which time she clipped the truck’s back fender. The outside right tires on the bus went off the asphalt and got stuck in the mud.

One student complained of a headache and has been transported to Willis Knighton Bossier. No other injuries were reported.

All parents were contacted. Some arrived at the scene to take their children home. Another bus was sent to the scene to transport the other students.

Bossier Parish Sheriff’s deputies are on the scene. The investigation into the incident continues.

The driver of the truck was in his lane. NOT the middle of the road. He was in the process of turning into a drive way when the bus clipped the back end of his vehicle.
