E-mail Print PDF

The Bossier Sheriff’s Office is offering a Ladies’ Self-Defense Class on Feb. 9 for residents of Bossier Parish.

The class will run from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the Viking Drive Substation at 2510 Viking Drive in Bossier City.  The class is provided free of charge and is limited to 40 applicants.  Daughters and female siblings 13 years and older may enroll as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Although there is no cost for the class, the Bossier Sheriff’s Office is asking for your support of their food bank program, Bossier Parish:  Operation Blessing, by bringing some canned goods or non-perishable food items as donations.

“Teaching self-defense to ladies gives them some basic skills and confidence they need to protect themselves at home or in the community,” said Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington.  “It also helps heighten their situational awareness and encourages them to become more alert to their surroundings in order to avoid becoming victims of crime in the first place.”

Call the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy at 965-3525 to sign up.
