BOSSIER DIXIE  REGISTRATION RUNS THROUGH FEB. 23

Registration for Bossier Dixie baseball and softball runs through Feb. 23.

You can register online at bossierdixie.net or on Feb. 16 and 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Walbrook Park.

Tryouts are set for Sunday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. at Walbrook.

BPCC BASEBALL TEAM BEGINS FIVE-GAME   HOMESTAND TODAY

Bossier Parish Community College begins a five-game baseball homestand today with a 2 p.m. game against Tyler Junior College.

The Cavs play four games against  Johnson County Community College Thursday through Saturday. The teams will play a single game at 2 p.m. Thursday, a doubleheader at noon Friday, and another single game at noon Saturday.

BPCC is off to a 2-2 start after losing both halves of a doubleheader to Hill College and sweeping Baton Rouge Community College.

PARISH TEAMS POST BOWLING VICTORIES

The Bossier and Parkway boys and the Haughton, Airline and Parkway girls all won bowling matches Monday at Holiday Lanes.

The Bossier boys dropped Minden 22-5. The Parkway boys defeated Byrd 17-10. The Haughton girls downed Loyola 22.5-4.5. The Airline girls defeated Benton 19.5-7.5. The Parkway girls defeated Byrd 16-11.

Here are the high individual games and series for parish teams.

Airline boys: Josh Gaude 205 (581 series); Tyler Harvill 183; Zach Fuhrman 180.
Bossier boys: Stephen Shea 156 (419); Shon Sainz 156; Taylor Bean 155.

BPCC HOOPS TEAM  AT HOME TONIGHT

The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers host Panola in a Region 14 men’s basketball game tonight at 7.

Panola (7-15) is in last place in  the seven-team Region 14 North Division at 0-12. BPCC (8-12) is sixth at 1-11.

BPCC has lost four straight games, but the losses have come against the top four teams in the division — Navarro, Tyler, Kilgore and Trinity Valley.

The Cavs held their own against the latter three, suffering a pair of 11-point losses to Kilgore and Trinity Valley and a six-point loss to Tyler.

Wilbert Thomas, who had 22 points, was the only BPCC player to score in double figures in the 80-69 loss to Trinity Valley. Panola is coming off a 74-67 loss to Paris.

PREP ALL-STAR GAMES SET FOR MARCH AT GOLD DOME

The Louisiana High School Basketball Coaches Association All-Star games will played at the Centenary Golf Dome March 16.

Bossier’s Tevin Robertson and Rashard Owens have been selected to the boys’ West squad. Louisiana New Tech at Plain Dealing’s Dennisha Chambers is on the girls’ West roster.
