Saturday, Feb. 9, the Friends of Bossier Parish Library will host their annual Author & Friends Event. The event is free to the public and will take place in the Bossier Parish Historical Center at 2206 Beckett St., Bossier City, from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
This year, award winning authors Liz Talley and Sheila Goss are on the agenda as guest speakers. They will talk about their craft and offer tips on how to get started in the business of writing. Those attending the workshops will have an opportunity to meet the authors, purchase their books and have them autographed.
Liz Talley, “a 2009 Golden Heart finalist in Regency Romance has since found a home writing sassy Southern stories for Harlequin Super Romance.” President of NOLA Stars and blogger on the 2009 Golden Heart blog, (http://www.rubyslippersisterhood.com), Liz is also a busy wife and mother.
“Shelia M. Goss is a national best-selling author and a 2012 Emma Award Finalist. She has over thirteen books in print and over seven books as eBooks. - Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. children ages 0-12 and their parents are invited to Family Storytime in the History Center meeting room. Chief Phillips and Captain Harris with the Bossier City Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Bureau will present a program on fire safety. - Saturday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. the Historical Center is hosting a special program in recognition of Black History Month entitled “The Emancipation Proclamation – At the Crossroads of Freedom and Equality.” Dr. William D. Pederson, Professor of Political Science at LSU-Shreveport, will be the guest speaker and local actor and story teller Thelma Harrison will portray Harriet Tubman. - Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 4 p.m. is Tween Tuesday at the Aulds Library for ages 9-12. Make crafts, and participate in other fun things after school. (318) 742-2337.
- Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 4-5 p.m., teens ages 13-18 are invited to attend the Valentine Cupcake Decorating Program in the History Center meeting room. To register call Tonya at the Bossier Central Library.
