1-5A boys basketball teams look to rebound

E-mail Print PDF

Bossier Parish District 1-5A boys teams complete the first half of district play tonight needing wins to get back in the playoff chase.
Airline (5-14, 1-3) visits 10th-ranked Byrd (20-4, 3-1), Parkway is at district leader Captain Shreve (13-13, 4-0) and Haughton (7-13, 1-3) hosts Southwood (11-10, 2-2).
None of the three Bossier Parish teams will likely have a strong enough power rating to make the playoffs as a wild-card team. But if the Vikings, Panthers and Bucs can pull off upsets tonight, they’ll still have a shot at finishing second and automatically qualifying.
Elsewhere in boys play, No. 1 ranked Bossier (22-3, 1-0) hosts Loyola (9-14, 0-1) in District 1-3A, and Benton (7-14, 0-4) hosts  second-place Minden (20-4, 3-1) in District 1-4A.
In girls District 1-5A play, second-place Haughton (17-6, 3-1) hosts  No. 1 ranked Southwood (22-1, 4-0), Airline (1-3, 9-14) visits Byrd (18-8, 2-2) and Parkway (3-16, 2-2) is at Captain Shreve (12-8, 0-4).
In District 1-4A, Benton (12-8, 2-2) begins the second half of district play at home against Minden (4-10, 2-2)
In District 1-3A, Bossier (12-11, 1-0) hosts defending state champion Loyola (15-9, 0-1).
The Louisiana New Tech boys and girls teams both have the night off.
