Forty Years, 55 Million Dead

Abortion is child’s play in America

bazhead2On Friday morning, December 14, 2012, a crazed gunman forced his way into the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.  Before he killed himself, he slaughtered 20 first graders and 6 adults.  Earlier that morning, at his house, he had pumped several shots into his mother’s head, killing her.  Death toll that day, 28.

On Friday morning, December 14, 2012, in abortion clinics all across America, “doctors” were snuffing out the lives of babies while they were still in their mothers’ wombs.  Death toll that day, approximately 3,500.

The deaths in Newtown shocked the nation.  The deaths in those abortion clinics barely caused a ripple.  What Adam Lanza did on that day in Newtown was illegal.  What abortionists did on that day was legal.

People all over the world have said they were outraged by the carnage in Newtown.  President Barack Obama appeared to shed a tear when he said the young Sandy Hook victims “had their entire lives ahead of them” and had their innocence “torn away from them too early.”  However, out of the other side of his mouth, Obama is the proud promoter of abortion and the murder mill called Planned Parenthood.  If those same children who were killed in Newtown had been aborted a mere 6 or 7 years earlier, he would not have attended a memorial for them.  Their lives would have been extinguished with Obama and his friends on the Left never shedding a tear.

If those 20 children had been aborted, some of them would have been injected with a saline solution and killed before being extracted from the womb.  Others would have been killed by suction methods that simply pull the child from the womb.  Still others would have been forcibly removed by forceps with jagged teeth that would have resulted in them being torn to pieces.  A few of them might have been partially born, only to have their skulls punctured and their brains suctioned out.

These grizzly procedures are carried out all over this country about 3,500 times a day, approximately 90,000 times a month and around 1.5 million times a year.  Since January 22, 1973, when the “right” to abort became the law of the land, 55,000,000 innocent, helpless unborns have been gruesomely destroyed.  The killing has continued for 4 decades and it will continue for the foreseeable future.  Tomorrow will mark the 40th anniversary of the most ghastly Supreme Court decision in America’s history.

The voices of protest in America are, at best, muffled.  Some people denounce abortion as an immoral cancer eating at the soul of this country.  I call it the “American Holocaust,” but many Americans could care less.  They are more worried about the fiscal cliff, gay marriage and taxes.  They turn their heads when they pass America’s “killing fields,” better known as abortion clinics.

Some try to ignore the practice, but there are many who actually defend abortion.  Mr. Obama, the most visible politician in the country, has vigorously supported abortion throughout his career.  He says abortion is acceptable at any stage of a baby’s development and he has consistently voted in the affirmative for the horrific practice of partial birth abortion.  His support of abortion has been unwavering.

During the 2012 presidential debates, he made a point of plugging Planned Parenthood on more than one occasion.  That organization provided about 335,000 abortions in the fiscal year, 2011-12.  Over three years, this baby-killing machine, masquerading as a “health provider,” performed about 1,000,000 abortion procedures.  And, despite assets reported to be in the 1 billion dollar range, Planned Parenthood, an abortion-for-profit outfit, soaked the taxpayers for around $545,000 in fiscal 2011-12.  That amounts to almost half of the organization’s annual budget.

There was a time when people justified abortion as the simple removal of a mass of tissue.  Medical technology has taken that defense away.  With advances in ultrasound technology, now including 4-D, no one can legitimately deny that the baby growing in the womb is very much alive.  Surgeons routinely operate on preborn children in the womb.

The killings in Newtown were horrible, unthinkable and devastating.  But, the questions remains, “Is the premeditated murder of 55,000,000 million unborn babies any less horrific than what happened at Sandy Hook?”  The reason for Adam Lanza’s killing spree is not known and may never be known.  The reasons women choose to abort their preborn children are well known.

The Guttmacher Institute, an independent research firm, says it found that 90 percent of all abortions performed in 2004 were sought because of some form of convenience.  Among the top three reasons given were:  1.Not ready for another child/not the right timing, 2.Can’t afford a baby right now, 3.Have completed child-bearing years and do not want another child.

Of all the reasons given most for keeping abortion legal—the health of the mother, rape and incest—in 2004, the health of the mother accounted for abortion only 4 percent of the time.  Rape was given as a reason for abortion less than one-half of one percent (0.5) of the time.  An incest statistic was not listed in that particular part of the Guttmacher report, but elsewhere in the document, incest was cited as a reason for abortion one-half of one percent (0.5) of the time.

What Adam Lanza did in Newtown was despicable, but equally despicable is the decision of a mother to abort her child simply because she doesn’t want to be inconvenienced.  Many women are deceived by the lie that abortion is a simple, uncomplicated procedure that will come and go.  The reality is, many of those women are now scarred both emotionally and spiritually.  The good news for them is that Jesus stands ready to forgive them and heal them when they come to Him in confession and repentance.  The Bible says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

The murder of 27 people in Newtown was a nightmare, but the murder of 55,000,000 precious children in America from 1973-2013 is also a nightmare.  It is an ongoing tragedy of epic proportions and it is a wonder God has not wiped this country off the face of the earth because of the evil that is abortion.  We should cry out to Him for mercy and pray that the slaughter of unborn babies will be a thing of the past.  I hope to live long enough to see abortion join slavery on the ash heap of history.
