Mustangs, Rams sweep opponents

The Greenacres Mustangs and Rusheon Rams swept their opponents in middle school boys basketball district action Thursday.

Greenacres defeated Elm Grove 46-42 in the seventh-grade game and 34-22 in the eighth-grade game.

Rusheon downed Benton 50-16 in the seventh-grade game and 46-30 in the eighth-grade.

The Haughton Bucs and Cope Cougars split games. Cope won the seventh-grade game 41-24, and Haughton won the eighth-grade game 34-32.

At Elm Grove, Kendall Brown paced the Greenacres seventh-grade team (1-1) with 16 points. David Maxie added 12 points and Coby McGee had 10.

Ty Hubbard topped Elm Grove (0-2) with 16 points, and Sheldon Dudley added 10.

Noah Hildebrand scored 13 points as the Greenacres eighth-grade team improved to 2-0. Anthony Mulrenin and Chris Davenport combined for 13 points.

Malcolm Banks led Elm Grove (0-2) with 17 points.

At Benton, the Rusheon seventh- and eighth-grade teams improved to 2-0.

Isaiah Wallace and Keyshawn Jones scored eight points apiece to lead the seventh-grade Rams. Jones also had six rebounds.

Landric Watson had six points and nine rebounds.

Keldrick Carper paced the Rusheon eighth-graders with 17 points. Kevin Bonapart added nine and Keimun Daniels had eight.

At Haughton, Quillin Dixon scored 12 points to lead the Cope seventh-graders (2-0).  Trenton Ivy and Jontravious Jenkins combined for 16 points, and Cameron Davis had nine rebounds.

Malcolm Hall led Haughton (0-2) with 12 points.

Charles Harper led the Haughton eighth-graders with 13 points. Colton McClain, T. Winnfield and Josh Lister combined for 19.

Harper had a key 3-pointer that gave the Bucs the lead in the fourth quarter, and McClain hit two clutch free throws.

KJ Bilbo led Cope (1-1) with 15 points and 18 rebounds.

In a seventh-grade game Monday, Benton downed Greenacres 40-30.

TJ Anderson tossed in 15 points to lead Benton, and Jalen Coleman added 11. Brown led the Mustangs with 19 points.
