The Haughton Lady Bucs defeated the Airline Lady Vikings 43-37 in a District 1-5A girls basketball opener Friday night at Airline.
The Lady Vikings led 21-17 at the half, but the Lady Bucs rallied to tie it after three and then outscored Airline 14-8 in the fourth.
Chelcy Swint paced Haughton (15-5) with 14 points. Ebone’ Green and Mikayla Barber added eight points each.
Airline (8-11) got 16 points from Jasmyn Carswell. Claire Crawford and Tasha Shiflett combined for 12.
In District 1-4A, defending champion Benton fell to Fair Park 55-47 at Benton.
The Lady Tigers (11-7, 1-1) trailed by four points at the half, but Fair Park (13-6, 2-0) extended the lead to 12 going into the fourth.
Madi Sessions topped Benton with 17 points, Megan Fream had 11, and Destiney Wallace added nine.
In non-district games, Bossier defeated Pleasant Hill 59-47 at Bossier, and Louisiana New Tech at Plain Dealing downed Class 1A rival Arcadia 55-51 at home.
Bossier led by only two at the half before pulling away in the third quarter.
Tiffany Lynn led the Lady Kats (9-11) with 17 points. Laschae Gadson had 13, including three 3-pointers.
Khobi McDaniel had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
New Tech senior Dennisha Chambers scored 45 points in her team’s victory.
The Lady Lions (7-7) avenged a 58-52 loss to Arcadia (13-6) earlier this season.
