Parkway boys hand Caddo Magnet first district soccer loss

The Parkway Panthers handed Caddo Magnet its first district loss of the season 2-1 Monday night at Tinsley Park.
Blake Bertrand, a junior, scored the Panthers’ first goal. Sophomore Lorenzo Tunek scored the game-winner on an assist from senior Keith Horace.
Coach Walt Peoples said senior Kolton Williams and and senior goalie Chandler McInnis contributed to the victory with their effort on defense.
Parkway improved to 11-7-2 overall and 5-3 in District 1, Division I. Caddo Magnet dropped to 12-6-1 and 6-1.
Parkway’s victory enabled Airline to move into first place in the district. The Vikings routed Byrd 7-0 to improve to 21-2 and 7-1, a half-game ahead of Caddo Magnet.
Chris Galvin and Matt Hanisee scored two goals each for the Vikings. Scott Bowers, Bryan Medreno and Gabe Rodriguez had one each.
Hanisee and Esteban Guervara had two assists each. Esteban Chornet-Baides, Bowers and Will Coyer had one apiece.
Elsewhere in boys action, Benton downed Minden 15-0 in a District 1-II game at Minden.
Dillon Rogers led the Tigers (9-7-0, 5-1) with three goals.
Will Sanguinetti, J.B. Mercer, Joseph Perrett, Justin Fruge, Ryan Mutchler and Ethan Whitehead all scored two goals for the Tigers, who are a game behind Calvary in the standings.
Ethan Parks had three assists. Fruge, Rogers and Whitehead had two assists each, and Daniel Valcho had one.
Goalkeeper Mitchell Matthews had three saves and got the shutout.
In District 1-III play in Vivan, Bossier rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat North Caddo in a penalty-kicks shootout.
Mateo Martinez and Bryce Cullotta scored the Bearkats’ goals in regulation.
North Caddo missed its first three kicks in the shootout. Bossier’s Baha Abdelrahim and Jessie Siordia made their first  two.
Bossiers’s third and fourth hit off the right crossbar and missed. The Rebels scored on their next two kicks to tie it. Cullotta then made his to win it for the Bearkats.
Bossier (7-5-1, 4-1) trails Loyola by a game in the standings.
In District 1-I girls play, Airline fell to district leader Byrd 3-0 Monday and Parkway dropped a 2-0 decision to Caddo Magnet.  Haughton lost to Captain Shreve 2-1 Tuesday.
Libbi Lange scored Haughton’s goal. Parkway and Airline are tied for third in the district at 4-3.
Benton remained undefeated in District 1-II with a 9-0 victory over Minden.
Shelby Plunkett had a hat trick for the Lady Tigers (7-3-3, 4-0). Abby Lauterbach, and Hailey Croft scored two apiece, and Kelcie Walker and Cori Basco had one each.
Hannah Easter, Jenny Cox and Kirsten Basco each had one assist.
Keona Sinnie scored two goals to lead Bosier to a 3-2 District 1-III victory over North Caddo.
Ashley Galvan scored one goal for the Lady Kats (4-4, 2-3), and goalkeeper Alyssa Tuggle had eight saves.  
Coach Allen Wood said Stephanie Ortega and Jazmin Rosario were defensive standouts.
