Local organizations help keep area kids warm

E-mail Print PDF

Goodwill Industries® of North Louisiana, Porter's Cleaners and KSLA TV-12 are partnering together for their 24th Annual Coats for Kids campaign. Coats will be distributed on Saturday, January 5th at the Goodwill Administrative Offices at 800 West 70th Street in Shreveport from 9 am to Noon. For residents in Bossier City, coats can be picked up at the Porter's Cleaners location at 512 Benton Road.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children with them and must present a photo ID. Representatives from non-profit groups will need to bring in a request on letterhead stating the number of coats needed.

With frigid temperatures expected this winter, Goodwill Industries®, Porter's Cleaners, and KSLA TV-12 are hoping to ensure that the children of Northwest Louisiana are healthy, safe, and warm. Porter's Cleaners and KSLA have been collecting coats for "kids" of all sizes for distribution through Goodwill Industries® and Porter's Cleaners to help keep all who walk through their doors a little warmer this winter. Started by Mr. John Porter in the 1980's, the program has handed out over 100,000 coats to local residents during its very successful run.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help on distribution day, please contact D.J. Roman, Marketing and Community Relations Manager of Goodwill Industries® of North Louisiana at (318) 212-0634 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
