Prep soccer roundup: Parkway, Airline split games

airlineparkwayboys3Airline and Parkway split boys and girls District 1, Division I soccer games Monday night at Tinsley Park.

The Airline boys continued their roll with a 4-0 victory. The Parkway girls won 1-0.

Elsewhere Monday, the Bossier boys and girls both won District 1-III games over North Caddo.

The boys won 6-1 and the girls won 3-0.

The Haughton girls routed Woodlawn 7-0 in a non-district game.

Tuesday, the Benton boys and girls teams swept District 1-II games against   Minden. The boys won 9-0 and the girls won 13-0.

The Airline boys, who moved up from eighth to seventh in the latest Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches’ Association Division I poll, improved to 13-1 overall and 3-0 in district play.

The Vikings scored two goals in the first half against Parkway and added two more in the second.

Patrick Laurent and Will Coyer scored two goals apiece. Chris Galvin had two assists and Gabe Rodriguez had one.

Airline faces Haughton  (3-3, 1-1) in a district contest tonight at Tinsley.

Parkway, the defending district champion, dropped to 4-4-2 overall and 1-2 in district.

Tiffani Scott scored  Parkway’s lone goal in the near the end of the first half in the Lady Panthers’ victory.

Parkway improved to 4-4-4-2 and 1-2. Airline dropped to 5-7 and 2-2.

Rolando Geurva and Brice Culotta scored two goals each in the Bossier boys’ victory over North Caddo.

Alex Galvan and Jorge Gaal scored one goal each.

Luis Martinez had two assists and Culotta had one.

Coach Hunter Pipes said Tim Martinez played well in goal, and Hunter Courtney had a strong game defensively.

Bossier improved to 4-1 and 2-0.

Whitney Cromartie, Iris Rosales and Sierra Worley all scored goals for the Bossier girls (3-2, 1-1).

Goalkeeper Alyssa Tuggle had seven saves.

JB Mercer and Matthew Valcho scored two goals apiece in the Benton boys’ victory over Minden.

Will Sanguinetti, Joseph Perrett, Justin Fruge, Dillion Rogers, Dylan Nix and Ethan Whitehead scored one goal apiece for the Tigers (4-4, 2-0)

Whitehead also had two assists. Sanguinetti, Mercer, Ethan Parks, Ryan Mutchler and Austin Simmons all had one assist.

Shelby Plunkett led the Benton girls (3-2-1, 1-0) with five goals and an assist.

Hannah Easter had three goals and an assist. Kloee Davis and Kelcie Walker scored two goals each. Abby Lauterback and Jenny Cox each had two assists.

Last weekend, Benton went 2-2 in the Bossier tournament, defeating North DeSoto 6-0 and North Caddo 8-0 and losing to Ouachita 2-1 and champion West Ouachita 7-0.  

Plunkett had a hat trick against North DeSoto. Chelsea Rangel scored two goals, while  Hailey Croft had a goal and an assist. Walker had two assists.

Coach Kyle Cox said Kirsten Basco played a solid game in goal.
Cori Basco scored the Lady Tigers’ lone goal against Ouachita with about six minutes left in the game.
Plunkett scored four goals against North Caddo, and Rangel added two. Easter and  Lauterbach scored one each.
