Airline, Bossier post boys basketball victories

The Airline Vikings and Bossier Bearkats picked up boys basketball victories Tuesday night.
The Vikings won their first game of the season, 84-61, over the Benton Tigers at Airline.
The Bearkats defeated defending Class B state champion Zwolle 58-36 at Zwolle.
Elsewhere, the Louisiana New Tech at Plain Dealing Lions dropped an 88-62 decision to Huntington at home.
At Airline, the Vikings (1-1) got off to a fast start, racing to a 20-10 lead four minutes into the game.
Airline extended the lead to 36-16 early in the second quarter, but Benton rallied and cut the deficit to 10, 45-35, at the half.
The Tigers could get no closer, though. as the Vikings outscored them 25-9 in the third.
Andrew Latson hit four of Airline’s six 3-pointers and led the Vikings with 20 points.
Demetrius Early added 15 points, Trey Turner 13 and Anthony Gladney nine.
D.J. Bratten led Benton (1-1) with 22 points. Peter Moore added 10 and Jeff Stephens had nine.
At Zwolle, Tevin Robertson scored 15 points to lead Bossier to the victory. Demonte Wills added 10 points. Devonte Hall and Rashard Owens combined for 15.
The Bearkats (2-1) were coming off a 60-45 loss to defending District 2-5A champion Ouachita last week in Monroe.
At Plain Dealing, returning All-Parish guard Cardarrious Ray scored 23 points to lead New Tech (0-3).
Vantrez Johnson scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
