The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers host Blinn College at 7 tonight in their conference home opener.
The Cavs are 5-1 overall after defeating the Northwestern State junior varsity Friday night 68-54. BPCC lost to Lee College 72-46 in its Region IV opener Nov. 20 in Baytown, Texas.
Blinn is 5-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
Former Bossier High standout Lyndale James led the Cavs Friday with 18 points and 12 rebounds, including nine on the offensive end. He was 8-of-11 from the field.
Trayvion Johnson and Dimitri Smith scored eight apiece.
It was BPCC’s second win over the NSU JV this season.
James, who helped Bossier win the 2011 Class 4A state championship, is the team’s second-leading scorer on the season at 10.3 points per game. He leads the team in rebounding at 8.2 per game.
Former Loyola standout Justin Harris, who had a poor night shooting against the NSU JV and finished with three points, is BPCC’s leading scorer at 11.5 points per game.
Ty’Rell Winn is averaging 9.7 points and 5.8 rebounds. Smith is averaging 8.7 points and 5.5 rebounds.
