Ryan A. Agsunod
Airline High School, sophomore — This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for many things. Most importantly, I want to thank God for giving me the strength to surmount any obstacle. I really want to thank my mother as well because she has been so supportive, helpful, and caring. I want to thank turkeys for tasting so delicious. I am also thankful for getting a Thanksgiving break from school. I am very grateful for many things during Thanksgiving, but God, my mom, and a Thanksgiving feast are the things I am most thankful for.
Emily Avery
Airline High School, senior — There are many things in this world that people take for granted. Our freedom takes a big part in my life, due to the fact that we have freedom of religion. I am so thankful that the people of the U.S. have a right to worship God. Without God all of the other precious things in my life would not be here or fall into place.
Victoria P. Kerry
Airline High School, sophomore — During the holiday season I am always surrounded by family. I am extremely thankful for all of my family members. To me, family is everything. Imagine looking around the dining room table on Thanksgiving Day and seeing no one. That would be dreadful. Thankfully my savior, Jesus Christ, blessed me with a wonderful, giving, and loving family. I am thankful for them everyday of my life. I am also thankful for all the soldiers who have fought and are fighting for our freedom. We hear it all the time that freedom isn’t free, and that is so true. When we are laughing and giggling they are still fighting. When we are watching football they are still fighting. When we are at school or work, they are still fighting. I thank God everyday that we have men and women brave enough to give and put their lives in jeopardy for our freedom and country.
Emily M. Skinner
Airline High School, sophomore — During the holiday season, I am thankful for family and friends, but I am most thankful for all the opportunities we have in America. I am free to go to school or join the band. I have an opportunity to go to college when I graduate high school. There are also many opportunities to help others in the community. I can donate food, money, and supplies, and I can also go out and help deliver the items. There are so many opportunities in this country that are not available in other countries. That is something to be thankful for.
Aerial Stanford
Airline High School, sophomore — Glancing around to see the smiles on so many faces, I realize that I have so much to be thankful for. God has blessed me with a wonderful family, who works hard to make sure everyone is well taken care of. On this holiday, I’ll be sure to not focus on the food, but rather the blessings I’ve been given. Behind the food is an amazing grandma, who works to make everything taste just right. Behind all of the laughter is a loyal family, who will be there through thick and thin. Most importantly, behind every blessing is an awesome, powerful God who brings me through every obstacle everyday. I’m so very thankful for this exciting season. I will never take something as special as my life for granted….happy thanksgiving.
