The Bossier Sheriff’s Office is offering a Ladies’ Self Defense Class on Nov. 17 for residents of Bossier Parish.

The class will run from 8–11 a.m. at the Viking Drive Substation at 2510 Viking Drive in Bossier City.

There is a limit of 30 applicants for the class, and participants must be 18 years of age and older.

The class is being offered free of charge, but the Bossier Sheriff’s Office is asking for your support of their food bank program, Bossier Parish:  Operation Blessing, by bringing some canned goods or non-perishable food items as donations.  The donations will be used to provide a hearty meal for needy residents during Christmas and throughout the year.

“With the holiday season upon us and folks out and about this busy shopping season, we want shoppers to keep safety on their minds,” said Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington.

“Teaching self-defense to ladies will give them some basic skills and confidence they need to protect themselves at home or in the community.  It also helps heighten their situational awareness and encourages them to become more aware of their surroundings in order to avoid becoming victims of crime in the first place.”

Call the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy at 965-3525 to sign up.
