JV and freshmen: Parkway sweeps Captain Shreve

parkway20The Parkway Panthers swept the Captain Shreve Gators in freshmen and junior varsity games Monday at Preston Crownover Stadium.

The Parkway freshmen won 44-16 and the junior varsity won 17-0.

Elsewhere, Airline dropped a pair of games to Byrd at Airline Stadium. The Yellow Jackets won the freshmen game 39-14 and the JV game 21-14.

Also, Benton blanked Bossier 24-0 in a freshmen game.

Monday’s games marked the end of the freshmen and junior varsity football seasons for Bossier Parish schools.

At Preston Crownover, Larry Sweeney scored three touchdowns to lead the Panthers freshmen team. One of his TD runs was a 50-yarder.

Greg Jones caught a 65-yard touchdown pass on a fake punt. Deonte Hawkins had a 50-yard TD reception, and Keondre Wudtee scored on a 5-yard run.

Elijah Rivers and Kei’Untre Normandin had interceptions. Coach Chad Abernathy said Loyd Cole and Ryan Black also played well on defense.

Stacy McCray scored a rushing touchdown for the Parkway JV, and Jamal Nash caught a TD pass from Rob Harper. Ezequiel Garcia kicked a field goal.

At Airline, Shuncee’ Thomas scored two rushing touchdowns and a conversion for the Vikings freshmen.

At Benton, Taylor Ward scored on a 75-yard run and also had three conversions to lead the Tigers.

Zeke Barnett scored on a 12-yard run. Chauncey Taylor ran 20 yards for a touchdown and also recovered a fumble. Other defensive standouts for Benton included Trent Harrison, Taylor Rivet, Tosh Morgan, Elijah Carr and Tony Davis.
