The Haughton Buccaneers, Airline Vikings and Parkway Panthers won freshmen football games this week.
On Monday, the Bucs defeated the Byrd Yellow Jackets 34-8 at Byrd, and the Vikings dropped the Captain Shreve Gators 38-24 at Lee Hedges Stadium.
On Tuesday, the Parkway Panthers knocked off the Southwood Cowboys 30-14 at Southwood.
At Byrd, Haughton’s Darius Brooks threw three touchdown passes to Antonio Woodfork as the Bucs improved to 5-0.
Woodfork’s touchdown catches covered 46, 76 and 36 yards.
Damien Sears and Jeremiah Wilson were both on the receiving end of two-point conversions.
Matthew Davis returned a fumble 73 yards for a touchdown. Christian Stanley forced the fumble on a sack.
Haughton coach Michael Marston said Jesus Santos also played well on defense.
At Lee Hedges Stadium, Shuncee’ Thomas scored two rushing touchdowns and three two-point conversions to lead the Vikings.
Cameron Taylor hit D’Juan Byrd for a touchdown and scored a two-point conversion.
Deangelo Pouncy returned a kickoff for a touchdown, and Travis Manning scored one on the ground.
Haughton hosts Airline Monday at 5 p.m.
At Southwood, Kei’Untre Normandin scored two rushing touchdowns in Parkway’s victory.
Keondre Wudtee threw a touchdown pass to Harrison Hopkins.
Larry Sweeney scored a rushing touchdown. He also ran for one two-point conversion and caught a pass for another.
C.J Morgan had a big game, scoring a conversion and intercepting two passes.
Parkway coaches Mike Guess and Chad Abernathy said Loyd Cole and Ryan Black were defensive standouts.
