State Fair returns

The State Fair of Louisiana will celebrate 106 years of providing unique, family-friendly entertainment when it returns to Shreveport’s fair grounds, Oct. 25-Nov. 11, 2012.

This year’s schedule of live entertainment includes: a PRCA Rodeo at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum, Nov. 2-3; nightly concerts at the World of Wireless Free Entertainment Stage featuring headliners like blues guitarist Wes Jeans, Nov. 8, and zydeco legend Wayne Toups, Nov. 10; a live broadcast of Amistad Radio’s “Talk to the Bishop” featuring Bishop Fred A. Caldwell, Sr., Oct. 28, and more. A non-stop program of free performances and attractions, ranging from fire-breathers and escape artists to BMX and skateboard stunt teams, will take place along the midway.   

This year’s State Fair will include a special Military Appreciation Day, with free admission for veterans and active military with valid military ID on Veterans Day, Sunday, Nov. 11.

The State Fair of Louisiana is open, 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and 10 a.m.-11 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays. The fair is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. General admission is $10 per person and Pay-One-Price Admission, including gate admission and ride armband, is $30 per person. The FunPass, which includes admission and ride armband for each of the 14 days the fair is open, is $75 per person. Parking is $5.
