The Bossier Parish School is inching closer to breaking ground on phase one of their $210 million construction bond plans.
Keith Norwood, director of planning for the Bossier School, presented land options to the planning and development committee Tuesday to be considered as future new school sites. The five options, Norwood added, each have their own pros and cons, but are all within the board’s budget.
“You have to have a starting point,” he said. “We’re looking for a site that is easy to get on to.”
The land options are located in north Bossier, which would alleviate overcrowding in Legacy and Benton Elementary. Two factors, Norwood said, were also taken into consideration: the development costs to the school board and the logistics of beginning construction within year one.
The committee recommended three options that will go before the full board tomorrow, including land on Parks Road at the Turtle Creek Subdivision, land south of the Palmetto Park subdivision and another site on Kingston Road.
Norwood said Tuesday’s committee meeting was a chance to get feedback from the board in order to keep studying their property options. The school board will meet Thursday at 2 p.m. at 316 Sibley Street in Benton.
